By now we all know that an author, whether published by a publisher or self-publishing, must think about creating a marketing plan for his book if he wants to obtain a minimum of visibility. Must the author of the 21st century be a technological author? I would say more that she needs to wake up and rejuvenate herself. When I talked about how to promote a book on the blog , I exposed some promotion methods, but before talking about marketing we need to think about the conditions of our blog. What do I mean? That some bloggers know how to run a blog and others neglect it. As? In my opinion there are 7 elements of the blog to pay attention to . #1 – Graphic appearance On this point I am very demanding.
Graphics has always been my passion in every field. The saying “Even the eye wants its part” is one of my favourites. The graphic aspect of the blog is part of editorial marketing, if you are an author and have a blog. In fact, I'd say it's part of the entire personal branding. You cannot welcome your readers - and future customers - to a blog with shabby Special Data graphics or a graphic theme that is now dated. Renew your blog . You have several months available - classic publishing or self-publishing, you know well in advance when your book will be released - and so roll up your sleeves and work on the graphic theme of the blog. Take care of every detail. #2 – Where are you at with the content? Do you want to be authors of this century? Then your blog needs an editorial calendar to manage content . In my opinion it is not normal to abandon the blog for a year and then report the publication of your book. If you abandon your blog, both Google and your readers will forget about you. Reporting the book will almost have a spam flavor.
But we said that you are in time: think about what to write in the blog and how to bring it back to life if you have neglected it. #2a – Have you published themed content with the book? For me it's important: it reinforces the idea that readers have of you – my friend Paolo is a customer support expert on social media, he always talks about it on his blog, and he just published a book on that topic . What if you only write fiction? I already said some time ago that an author today must publish stories on his blog to create a community of readers and also to get involved. Have you done it? #3 – Promotional content calendar For the release of my book I planned a series of 5 posts to talk about my experience : I therefore combined promotion with information, creating content that spoke directly about my book (or, better, how I wrote and published it) but focusing attention on the my experience. I don't like to be too promotional, so I wanted to write something useful and at the same time advertise myself.
